“I am very pleased Rob has joined Astral Images to promote our products and lead our business development efforts,” stated Warren Lieberfarb, Chairman of Astral Images’ Board. “Rob is well known and respected in the Hollywood community for his contributions over the decades. He possesses unique strategic knowledge bridging the worlds of creative film making and production technology. We are thrilled to have such a distinguished motion picture media expert leading our team.”

Mr. Hummel’s career has revolved around cinematography, film formats, film restoration and archiving, animation, post production, visual effects and stereoscopic 3-D. Mr. Hummel has worked for studios including Disney, DreamWorks, Sony and Warner Brothers. In 1999, he led Technicolor’s establishment of some of the first Digital Cinemas across the globe. Mr. Hummel stated, “Astral Images has a wide range of advanced technology solutions and capabilities to digitize, restore and enhance all types of film and photographic material. I am most impressed by how the scientists at Astral appreciate and value the integrity of the original image. Also, I am in awe of their abilities to reveal original hidden image content, and Astral achieves these results without using digital cloning or merging techniques. The same can be said for the HDR information I’ve seen them mine from motion pictures. I am excited by the opportunities for Astral Images to solve complex technology challenges in its target markets and look forward to contributing to advancing its business in all areas.”
