CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TOURS SPACEHAB

Houston, Texas (October 25, 2005) -

With all eyes on the moon, Mars and beyond, a congressional delegation paid visit to SPACEHAB’s headquarters on Monday to witness first hand how the future of space commerce is evolving.

As a leader in commercial space services, SPACEHAB was one of only two aerospace companies the group, which included Congressman Ken Calvert, (R) California and Chairman of the Space Aeronautics Subcommittee and representatives with Congressman Tom Delay, (R) Texas, planned to tour. In addition to showcasing the Company’s modules and carriers it has proudly provided to NASA shuttle and space station programs on nearly twenty missions, the meeting also gave SPACEHAB a venue to demonstrate its next generation of commercial space solutions including Apex, an unmanned spacecraft designed to re-supply the ISS and to give government and private agencies affordable access to space.

“This was a tremendous opportunity to not only showcase our capabilities, but also gain the ear of those in Washington holding the purse strings on NASA’s budget,” said Michael Kearney, SPACEHAB President and Chief Executive Officer. “Congressman Calvert and Congressman Delay are both staunch supporters of the President’s Vision for Space Exploration and the role commercial space companies play in achieving the ultimate goal.” The congressional visit was sponsored by Citizens for Space Exploration, a grassroots aerospace advocacy group that visits with Members of Congress to ensure continued public and political support for major human space programs.
