STS-102 will be the eighth space shuttle mission in support of the assembly of the International Space Station. The crew will install the Multi-Purpose Logistics Module, which is also known as Leonardo, onto the International Space Station. Two space walks will be conducted to complete assembly operations.

Extravehicular Activities:
During the docked portion of the STS-102 mission, two space walks are planned to prepare Leonardo for transfer, to install hardware needed for 6A, and to deliver spare parts to the International Space Station.
The first space walk tasks will include unplugging Portable Mating Adapter 3 from Node 1 electrical cables, Lab Cradle Assembly installation and rigid umbilical installation. Between space walks, the shuttle crew will dock Leonardo to Node 1.

During the second space walk, the crew will transfer the Early Ammonia Servicer to the P6 truss, install the External Stowage Platform and deliver a replacement Pump Flow Control System. After the second space walk, the shuttle's robot arm will place Leonardo back in the payload bay.
